The current project is a revision to a previous proposal approved in 2009 to redevelop County-owned property located in City jurisdiction. A potential significant economic engine at a key gateway, the site is located in the northwest quadrant of the City (west of Highway 80 and south of Hwy 37) and includes the County Fairgrounds. Following an RFP process, the County entered into a development agreement with IRG to redevelop the site to include a mixture of uses including:

• Reconfiguration and redesign of the County fairgrounds
• Creation of new commercial development and open space
• Creation of new housing

  Next steps:

• County Leadership is in ongoing negotiations with their development partner regarding terms of their proposed agreement; further movement on review of a revised proposal is currently on hold.
